Construction Suicide Prevention Week

Save the date: Sept. 14-18, 2026

Together we can save lives.

In 2019, a mission-driven group of volunteers from across the construction industry came together with the goal of saving lives. They collaborated to launch the inaugural Suicide Prevention Week for the industry — a week dedicated to raising awareness about the higher-than-average number of suicides in the construction industry, and to providing resources to help prevent those deaths.

Every year, during September — National Suicide Prevention Month — the construction industry will dedicate a week to raising awareness about the unique challenges workers face in construction that lead to suicide and what we can do to prevent it. Together, we can save lives.

Thanks to our 199 participants registered this year.

2026 Theme and Pledge

THEME:

Building on Progress

Recent data from CPWR shows that suicide and drug-related death rates in construction have begun to decline. That progress matters, Construction Suicide Prevention Week is proud to be part of the effort, and the progress is most certainly a sign of hope for our industry.

At the same time, we know the work isn’t finished. Any loss of life is a loss too many, and continued effort is critical to protecting the lives of those who build our communities.

Building on Progress means honoring what’s working while continuing to push forward. It’s about breaking down barriers, fortifying pathways to help, and building a culture where asking for support is seen as a sign of strength — not weakness.

We build structures together, and we build people up the same way.
